Thompson House: Rehabilitation and Nursing Center - Residential Care in Brattleboro Vermont

COVID-19 Update: October 17, 2022

October 17, 2022

Dear Families & Friends,

Following routine antigen-testing this morning we identified four residents who are positive for COVID-19. These residents are, thankfully, minimally symptomatic and are doing well at this time.

The nursing staff is monitoring and assessing these residents three times per day at a minimum, and are communicating with the doctors on a daily basis.

We encourage the use of virtual visits (tele-visits or phone visits) at this time. In-person visitors are reminded to perform frequent hand hygiene and to practice mask-wearing and social distancing in the facility. When the weather permits, outdoor visits (on the patio, or the benches out front) are advised.

Resident activities have been pulled back slightly and residents who are on the upper level or in Residential Care are being encouraged to not take meals or attend other activities with lower level residents. For the time being, the main dining room will seat fewer residents per table than usual – lower level residents are being encouraged to dine in their rooms.

We have ample Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and testing supplies and feel confident that our housekeeping and laundry team will keep the facility sanitized and as clean as possible.

We will send another update on Wednesday the 19th or sooner should further positive tests arise.

Thank you all for your understanding and patience, and thank you to the Vermont Department of Health for continuing to supply Thompson House, and many other facilities, with support staff and epidemiological guidance during this time.

Sincerely,

Judy Morton, Administrator
