Thompson House: Rehabilitation and Nursing Center - Residential Care in Brattleboro Vermont

COVID-19 Update: February 24, 2023

February 24, 2023

Dear Residents, Friends and Families,

We are writing to update you on the covid19 status here at Thompson House Currently, no residents in Nursing Home or Residential Care are positive or symptomatic.

We do have 3 staff members out with positive tests. One of the staff members was not in the building during their infectious period, one was identified to have positive family member and had been testing every day with rapid test as well as wearing N95 during their shift. One was identified early in their initial infectious period.

Residents who had contact with the positive staff members continue to be surveillance tested and we will update you if any positive results occur. Our infection prevention committee reviews the risk of transmission at least weekly. We also work very closely with our VDH Epidemiologists, who visited the building last week at our request and performed an Infection Control audit, they found our facility to be above average in our practices and compliance. We also have a new Infection Preventionist, Cassandra Miller, RN, who we are thrilled to have joining the team full-time.

We will continue to keep you updated and want to remind you that the greatest risk to our residents is an outside infection coming into the building. Please remain vigilant in hand washing, cough etiquette, source control (well fitting mask), and social distancing, and refrain from visiting if you are symptomatic or have had significant exposure. We have rapid tests on demand for any visit wishing to have a nurse perform one prior to your visit.

Thank you,

Judy Morton, Administrator
Melissa Osborne, Director of Nursing
